In coastal communities, the impact of acute shocks, like hurricanes or earthquakes, are exacerbated by chronic stresses, such as sea-level rise and aging infrastructures. Development and capital improvements in coastal communities rely on strategies that combine world-class science with community-driven planning to deliver solutions that will allow communities to thrive while protecting critical infrastructure and cultural and economic assets. This panel will highlight current discussions and initiatives underway to identify the most effective financing opportunities for the communities facing these issues and the strategies that can be employed in other regions.
